 About the Book

This research report looks at the phenomenon of HIV and HEP C in federal penitentiaries, noting the prevalance and treatment of such medical issues. Of note, the authors identify that the statistical over-representation of these particular diseases within the incarcerated population is driven in large part by the high rates among Aboriginal women offenders in particular. The challenges with treating this population with occassional shortages of medication, operation disruptions and problematic individuals is discussed.
